Pirates

Little d gets two big E’s.

(PITTSBURGH) — Chase d’Arnaud had two fielding errors today that lead to two unearned runs proving the difference in the game as the Pirates failed to get the sweep against the Cincinnati Reds losing 3 – 1.  In Mondays game, d’Arnaud had made a sensational play that got the Pirates out of a bases loaded first inning jam.  That is what you get with many young players – inconsistency.  He already has seven errors in 21 games.  The Pirates simply do not have the luxury to have any holes in their defense with how poor their offense is.  Ronny Cedeno’s return will help drastically in this regard.  Although his defensive reputation has been shaky, this season he has really settled down only committing five errors in 78 games.  Cedeno’s is batting .400 in his current rehab stint in AAA Indianapolis hopefully opening the way for his quick return.
