Pirates

Talk me off the ledge.

Every time I think the Bucs can not find a new way to lose the Brewers, they do it.  The frustration of the losing to the Brewers is reaching new levels.  The only solace one can find is you expect it.  You know it is coming.   You do not know how they are going to lose, you just know they are going to.

That is the problem.  The Pirates know it too.  That is probably one of the reasons they always lose.  It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.  For those of you lucky enough to not have watched the game.  I’ll wrap it up quick for you.

Bottom of the 8th, Pirates winning 1-0, Hanrahan now in the game, two outs, runner on 2nd, Nyjer Morgan at the plate with two strikes.  Swing-and-miss, STRIKE THREE!!!!!   Uh… wait a sec…  the pitch breaks so hard that it not only dips beneath Morgan’s bat, but Michael McKenry’s glove, caroms off his knee guard and bounces down the 3rd base line.  Runners on first and third.  One batter later, single, game tied.

Extra innings.  Pirates have two outs, bases loaded, Brandon Wood at the plate.  He takes a mighty swing and the ball travels 11 inches.  I’m not kidding.  The ball goes straight to the ground, barely bounces one time, and stops.  The catcher takes one step, picks up the ball, touches home, top of the inning over.  Brewers win in the bottom frame.

I can not take it anymore.  Thank God it is football season.
