Better to sit tight than…

It is better to sit tight than be taken to the cleaners at the trade deadline.  I still think there will be some sneaky value.  Some teams will overpay for what they want, and then the Bucs will come in and trade for value.  Huntington is likely in discussions with teams that about players that have not drawn one rumor.

Obviously, my previous exploration of trading Mark Melancon is a no-go now that Jason Grilli is hurt.  I still think the Pirates could land a starter, perhaps a Jake Peavy.  But, I’ve a feeling starting pitching will cost too much for them to pursue.  My guess is they don’t do anything that will draw a headline.  They’ll pick up a decent bat off the bench that can hit LHP and call it a week.
