Here are our brief thoughts four games into the season:
- The pitching has been outstanding, especially the starters.
- Hurdle needs to quit trying to outsmart himself with lineup choices. I’m in the minority, but I think Tabata should bat 2nd, Walker 5th, and Jones/Sanchez 6th.
- I am glad to see McCutchen running as much as he is. I wasn’t upset he tried stealing 2nd in the 8th down by three. If we could manufacture a run in that inning, then we stood a better chance of tying/winning in the 9th.
- Pedro Alvarez has been playing well defensively.
- I must quietly have more confidence in this team than year’s past because I normally freak out over losses to the proportion that I feel it ensures another losing season. No freak outs yet.
