The Pirates have been desperate for offensive help, and the release of Nate McLouth and call-up of Matt Hague allow them to put a decent lineup on the field. Garrett Jones playing RF and batting 6th with Hague batting 7th at 1B provides some depth in the batting order. Keeping Josh Harrison in the lineup is imperative, and preferably at SS if his defense can keep up. He did turn a nice double play on Sunday which should give Clint Hurdle the confidence to keep rolling this lineup out there.
I’d stick with Jones in RF against lefties too, but I’d be okay inserting Gorkys Hernandez in the lineups in his stead batting 8th and playing Rod Barajas at CA batting 7th. Barajas keeps the power in the lineup and Hernandez provides better OF defense and some speed at the bottom of the lineup. This lineup might not strike fear in opposing pitchers, but it can be productive enough to win. With the way the pitching has been going, only a little offense is needed to be competitive.
